This one day level 3 (intercollegiate document) conference is aimed at the busy GP and their team, who have to work with other professionals to identify, assess and meet the needs of children where there are safety concerns.

Who Should Attend?

GPs, nurse practitioners, practice nurses, practice managers, psychologists and any clinician who works within a primary care team. 

The Conference will cover:

  • How to set up best practice safeguarding children and young people protocols 

  • How to ensure that your practice has adequate training at the recommended level for all staff 

  • The implications of relevant legislation, interagency policy and national guidance 

  • The effects of parental behaviour and/or vulnerability on children and young people and the interagency response 

  • A range of clinical presentations and pitfalls to be aware of 

  • Procedures for proactively following up children who may be at risk of significant harm 

  • The role of the independent contractor as part of the multidisciplinary team, in working with children, young people and families where there are child protection concerns 

  • Best practice in documentation, record keeping and understanding data protection issues including responsibilities with regards to information sharing
